Crook County, Wyo. - Devils Tower National Monument is making a major change to its hours starting this week.
In a social media post, the NPS says that starting Thursday, March 13, 2025, the hours of operation will be changing to 7:00am-5:00pm.
They say the park will no longer be open 24 hours a day. Although visitors will be allowed in the park during the day, the park will be closed at night from 5pm to 7am.
Visitor center hours will remain the same from 9am to 5pm.
There's no word on how this affects camping inside at the Belle Fourche River Campground.
National parks and monuments across the county have altered hours in recent weeks due to staffing and spending cuts linked to the Trump Administration's DOGE cuts.
Wyoming News Now has reached out to U.S. Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis as well as U.S. Representative Harriet Hageman for reaction to the news, considering the monument is a huge tourist and economic driver for the state. Senator John Barrasso says in a statement,
"President Trump is right to cut wasteful Washington spending to protect American taxpayers and increase the efficiency of the federal government. Since the start of the DOGE process, I have worked with the administration to highlight our National Parks and the importance of keeping them adequately staffed. Devils Tower, like many of our other national parks and monuments, is trying to balance being fiscally responsible while still remaining accessible to the public."
