Sherri Geringer Wyoming

Cheyenne, Wyo. - Former Wyoming First Lady Sherri Geringer has passed away.

She was the wife of former Gov. Jim Geringer who served from 1995 to 2003.

Geringer died over the weekend following an extended illness just two weeks after celebrating her 58th wedding anniversary.

According to her son Rob, Geringer was dedicated to volunteer work and "lived a life of faith, incredible strength, and unconditional love for her family and others. The example she set as Mom, Grandma, wife and quiet leader will truly be missed."

U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., shared condolences on X (Twitter) saying, "I'm saddened to hear of former Wyoming First Lady Sherri Geringer's passing. Her passionate advocacy, warmth, and friendship made her beloved across our state. Keeping Gov. Geringer and their entire family in my prayers during this difficult time."

According to the Wyoming State Museum, Geringer helped start Wyoming programs such as Race For The Cure, the National Safe Kids Campaign, and Raising Readers.

Geringer was born in 1945 and is survived by her husband and five children. The family is asking to donate to charities rather than flowers.

Funeral services will be held in Cheyenne on Monday April 14th at 1 p.m. at Cheyenne Hills church and again in Wheatland Tuesday April 15th at 1 p.m. at First Christian church.
