(Gering, NE) - The Gering Police Department, in coordination with Gering High School, acted promptly after receiving a notification about the possibility of a student bringing a handgun to school. 

Authorities contacted the student, and no weapon was found at the school. To ensure the safety of students and staff, the school briefly initiated a lockdown while officers conducted a thorough search of the

building.

Further investigation led assisting Officers from the Scottsbluff Police Department to a residence in

Scottsbluff, where a firearm and ammunition were located and seized as potential evidence pending a review by the Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office.
