Nebraska - Union Pacific continues to investigate a pair of train derailments that happened Sunday morning.
The first derailment happened before 7 a.m. just west of Kimball, outside of the town of Dix in Kimball County. That derailment started a fire and led to power outages and road closures.

According to our news partners at News Channel Nebraska, the train was carrying 60 double-stacked storage containers of dry goods at the time. The crash ended up blocking the railroad crossing at Kimball County Road 55.

The second derailment happened three hours later, at 10:30 a.m. east of North Platte, near Highway 30 at the North Airport Road railroad crossing.
That train consisted of 25 cars carrying corn.

Several fire departments responded to both incidents but luckily no one was hurt in either derailment. North Airport Road is expected to remain closed for the next several days for investigation and clean up.
